About

Natacha Martins (b.1997, Aveiro, Portugal) uses painting and painting environments to explore the irrational and delirium behavior of the human condition. From pure gesture to figurative distortion, her work draws upon acute observations of the sacred and the profane concepts in the contemporary scope. The presence of the artist’s identity is in direct response to the ongoing interest of human archaic nature. Natacha’s work reflects an ongoing interest in the intemporal pictorial forms of pathos and emotional communication.

Natacha Martins holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts, specialized in the field of Painting) from Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade do Porto. The artist is currently represented by Zet Gallery. Since 2016, she has participated in multidisciplinary collectives in Porto, and exhibiting in collective exhibitions in Portugal. Recent projects include a Nomination as a Portugal Representive Artist in the Jeune Création Européenne itenerant exhibition (Bienalle D’Art Contemporain 2019-2021); an Nomination as a Award Artist Acquisition (2019) of the Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade do Porto (Portugal); International Artist Residencie in Pilotenkueche in Leipzig, Germany (2019).
